FAQ's

Morning Wellness has the impactful active ingredient of Vitamin B6 for reducing the frequency and intensity of nausea, vomiting and dry retching of morning sickness.

Vitamin B6 is a co-enzyme that plays a crucial role in the production of serotonin, as well as GABA and dopamine. These neurotransmitters are essential for normal stomach and bowel functioning.

Morning Wellness Plus has two key active ingredients for reducing the frequency and intensity of nausea, vomiting and dry retching of morning sickness. The active ingredients in Morning Wellness Plus are Vitamin B6 and Ginger.

Ginger works in part by acting on serotonin receptors (5-HT3) on the gut to reduce nausea developed in morning sickness.

Both Ginger and Vitamin B6 have substantial evidence to support their effectiveness in reducing the symptoms of morning sickness.

The short answer is: probably, but not definitely.

Some insights from studies concerning Nausea and Vomiting during Pregnancy (NVP):

  • Vitamin B6 daily for 7 days reduced average nausea and vomiting scores by 56% (1)
  • 87% of women showed improvement in nausea scores when treated with ginger (2)
  • 46% of ladies stopped vomiting altogether after 3 days of treatment with Vitamin B6 (3)

The long answer is that NVP  is a complex beast that is incompletely understood and difficult to predict on an individual level.

Unfortunately, the only way to know for sure is to try each treatment to see what works for you.

We’ve had mamma’s who have been so thrilled to ‘smell the hot chips again’ after using Morning Wellness they literally hugged us, but also, we’ve had ladies who have experienced minimal change to their nausea.

Even if you don’t get an immediate response, the studies show that there is a benefit in taking Vitamin B6 three times a day for at least a week to assess effectiveness. At the very least, you’ll have the benefit of a week of electrolytes.

Also, if prescription medication is required, then it is advisable to continue to take Vitamin B6 as well as the prescriptions medicine as together they are more  effective than individually.

Visit our Blog page to understand the NVP stepped treatment ladder and get the ‘recipe’ for beating your NVP.

You probably already know this, but morning sickness can cause a range of significant physical and emotional issues. The crazy thing is that it can actually be treated, but some mama’s think that it’s just part of the experience.

The truth is, morning sickness can ruin the special time of pregnancy in a bunch of ways – here’s some of them:

  • Vomiting or nausea
  • Tiredness
  • Dehydration
  • Fainting
  • Lack of appetite
  • Longer term postpartum recovery issues
  • Weight loss
  • Preterm births or underweight babies
  • Inability to function with normal daily expectations, like child minding or work commitments
  • PTSD

On an emotional level morning sickness can also cause relationships to suffer, loneliness and mental health issues.

It’s not just important to treat morning sickness to save a bit of queasiness, but it’s super important to prevent some of these nasties.  The good news is that morning sickness can be treated, so mama, don’t put up with the suffering any longer!

As we know, morning sickness can cause dehydration and depleted electrolytes through vomiting, but dehydration can also be caused through reduced intake associated with nausea.  So even a bit of queasiness can lead to dehydration.

Morning Wellness and Morning Wellness PLUS contain electrolytes and osmolarity at a level consistent with the World Health Organisation (WHO) guidelines for effective replacement of electrolytes, and equivalent to major pharmacy electrolyte drinks, so every time you drink Morning Wellness or Morning Wellness PLUS, you’re keeping the morning sickness nasties away!
